Virtual Submissions
Please send a current headshot, resume, and an audition video package for consideration. Your audition video package should contain a 32-bar song cut, a 60-second monologue, and any dance/movement footage for consideration. No acapella submissions will be considered. If you are wanting to be considered for Much Ado About Nothing please submit a 90 second Shakespeare monologue. All videos MUST be sent via an unlisted YOUTUBE link. All materials required should be emailed directly to the casting team at auditions@greatplainstheatre.com. All videos will be considered for our 31st Season. Thank you for your time, talent, and commitment!

In-Person Professional Auditions
Open to all professional, non-union actors and college students. In-Person professional auditions will be January 18, 2025 from 9am-2pm. There will be a Dance Call from 2pm-3pm. Open to all adults (not in high school) in Abilene and the surrounding areas. In-Person local adult auditions will be January 17, 2025 from 6:30pm-8pm. There will be a dance call from 6pm-6:30pm. Callbacks will follow from 8pm-9pm. Your audition package should contain a 32-bar song cut and 60-second monologue. No acapella submissions will be considered. In-Person Local Youth Auditions
Open to area youth in Abilene and the surrounding areas ages 9-18. Must be 9 years old by May 1st, 2025 to audition. In-Person youth auditions will be January 17, 2025 from 4pm-5:30pm. There will be a dance call from 5:30pm-6pm. Your audition package should contain a memorized 32-bar song cut(30-45 seconds of music) and a memorized 45-60 second monologue. Unmemorized auditions will not be considered. Youth auditionees may sing acapella, or bring clearly marked sheet music for the accompanist. Please fill out the form below:

TRUVY JONES (35-50 years old)
Owner of the beauty shop. Friendly, outgoing, and always willing to help others. Southern Belle.
ANELLE (19-30 years old)
Beauty shop assistant. New girl in town. Unsure of what she wants. At first, she is running away from her past life and is trying to find a home. She eventually finds religion and acquires balance in her life
CLAIREE (50-70 years old)
Former wife of the mayor of the town. Feels a little lost without her position, but is the grande dame.
SHELBY (Mid to late 20's)
Prettiest girl in town. She marries in Act One and finds she wants to assert herself and be independent.
M'LYNN (40-50 years old)
Shelby's mother. She is struggling letting loose her control of her daughter and protecting her. Also, a socially prominent career woman.
OUISER (50 - 70 years old)
Pronounced "Weezer." A wealthy acerbic, but ultimately loveable curmudgeon. A tough exterior but she really cares about people.

NATALIE HALLER (20s, Any ethnicity, F#3 - F5)
A mechanic. More comfortable in greasy overalls than a dress. Dreams of life beyond her small town. Spends half of the show disguised as "Ed," in order to get closer to Chad.

A great-lookin', motorcycling, guitar-playing, leather-jacketed roustabout. Charismatic and on the move.

Natalie's loving and supportive father. Widowed and missing a love of his own.

The beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town's museum. Unapologetically knows what she wants.

The town's judgmental and rigid mayor. Enjoys being in control and telling others how to live. A strong sense of comedic timing.

DEAN HYDE (16 years old, Any ethnicity, D3 - Bb4)
Matilda's son. He has grown up at a military boarding school. Sheltered and awkward, love brings out a new side of him.

The law in town. A man of not many words. Matilda's right-hand man.

EDWARD BLOOM (40s-50s, Bari-tenor G2 - G4)
A charming, charismatic storyteller. A devoted yet absent father nearing the end of his life and wanting to reconnect with his son. He is comfortable in his own skin, but hopes for Will's approval. He loves his wife, his son, and telling stories. Needs a big voice and serious character acting. Strong movement abilities preferred. Will play the older and younger versions of himself.
SANDRA BLOOM (40s-50s, Soprano with mix/belt G3 - E5)
Patient, calm, the perfect balance to Edward's enthusiasm. She adores and appreciates Edward and tries to bring reconciliation to her husband and son, both of whom she loves. Strong triple threat. Will play the older and younger versions of herself.
WILL BLOOM (25-35 years old, Tenor C#3 - G4)
An earnest, serious, thoughtful young man. Analytical, "realist," dry-humored. Doesn't believe his father's stories after learning Edward is sick, he seeks to find the truth in his father's past. He is a successful professional, new husband (to Josephine), and expectant father. Strong tenor voice and dramatic actor. Minimal dancing, but actor might be used in some ensemble numbers depending on abilities.
YOUNG WILL (9-12 years old)
The young version of Edward's son. Intrigued by his father's stories.
THE WITCH/ENSEMBLE (20s - 40s, Mezzo-Soprano Belt)
Commanding performer with great confidence and storytelling ability. She convinces Edward to pursue a big life without fear.
JOSEPHINE BLOOM (25-35 years old, Mix Belt up to C#5)
Will's wife, a lovely woman who provides balance for Will's pragmatism. She supports and helps guide Will's journey toward reconciliation with his father.
KARL THE GIANT/ENSEMBLE (18 - 35 years old, Bass A3 - D4)
A giant, one of Edward's fantasy friends. This supporting role requires an actor who is 6'6" or over. Through Edward's friendship, he grows from being a "beastly" outcast to a highly successful businessman. Requires an actor who has an appreciation for comic irony, stilt walks, and dances.
AMOS CALLOWAY/DR. BENNETT/ENSEMBLE (20 - 35 years old)
One of Edward's fantasy friends. This supporting role requires an actor who is 5'6" or smaller.
JENNY HILL/ENSEMBLE (Actor to play 20 - 50 years old, Mix belt to Eb5)
Edward's devoted first girlfriend when they are young and then plays older to help Will understand Edward and his motivations. Jenny and Edward have known one another since they were kids. Jenny is the most popular girl in Ashton, but she only has eyes for Edward. She never fully recovers when he leaves Ashton and starts a life without her. Must be a strong triple threat. Will play the older and younger versions of herself.
DON PRICE/ENSEMBLE (Actor to play 18 - 25, Baritone)
Older snarky bully. Sandra's first fiancé. Good movement skills and stage combat experience preferred. Actor will also be used in some ensemble numbers.
GIRL IN WATER/ENSEMBLE (Actor to play 18 - 25 years old, Mezzo belter)
A metaphorical siren who appears throughout Edward's fantastical stories. Must be a strong dancer.
ZACKY/MAYOR/ENSEMBLE (Actor to play 20s - 40s, Baritone) Zacky is Don's younger brother and he wants to be just like his big brother. But he does not have the physical strength or the personality to be an athlete or an intimidating bully like Don. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but you can't help liking him. Stronger singer and dancer.
ENSEMBLE (Ages 16+)
4 strong singers and dancers to play various roles. Some will do extensive dance, but not all. Some ensemble members may understudy principal roles.
Tuck Everlasting

WINNIE FOSTER (Actor to play pre-teen, A3 - E5)
Winnie is an 11-year-old girl from Treegap, New Hampshire whom the story centers upon. Growing up in a strict household, she longs to discover the world beyond her own backyard and ends up going on the adventure of a lifetime when she meets Jesse and the rest of the Tuck family. Specific age is not important for the casting of Winnie, just that the actor cast must believably be able to play an 11-year-old girl full of excitement, spunk, and wonder.
JESSE TUCK (Actor to play teen, F3 - C5)
Jesse is the youngest and most optimistic of the Tuck family at 17. He quickly becomes friends with Winnie, attempting to show her how life can be filled with fun forever. Specific age is not important for the casting of Jesse, just the ability to play a fun-loving, cheerful, 17-year-old.
ANGUS TUCK (40s - 50s, E3 - B4)
Angus is the patriarch of the Tuck family, married to Mae. Along with the other members of the Tuck family, he teaches Winnie about the beauty of living life in all its seasons.
MAE TUCK (40s - 50s, A3 - E5)
Mae is the matriarch of the Tuck family, married to Angus. She loves all her boys, and is kind to Winnie.
MILES TUCK (20s - 30s, F3 - C5)
Miles is the oldest son of the Tuck family. He has traveled the world, and is much more mature than Jesse.
THE MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT (40+, G3 - B4)
The Man in the Yellow Suit, who is never given any other name, is the show's antagonist. He has traveled with the circus most of his life in hopes of finding the Fountain of Youth.
CONSTABLE JOE (40+, F3-B4)
Joe is the town's law enforcement, and Hugo's mentor.
HUGO (Actor to play teen, G3 - C5)
Hugo is a 15-year-old self-starter who assists Joe with the very few investigations that arise in Treegap. Specific age is not important for the casting of Hugo, only that the actor must be able to play an eager, questionably competent, young investigator.
WINNIE'S MOTHER (30s - 50s, A3 - E5)
Winnie's protective mother.
WINNIE'S GRANDMOTHER (Actor to play 50+, A3 - C#5)
Winnie's grandmother who lives with her and her mother.
ENSEMBLE (Ages 12+, any vocal ranges)
The ensemble will play a variety of roles including townsfolk, travelers, spirits, carnival workers, and patrons. Some will be featured as dancers, but not all. Some ensemble members may understudy principal roles.

JIM HARDY (25 - 40 years old, Lyric Baritone Bb2 - A4)
Kind, sincere, honest, and good natured; ready to leave showbiz behind for a simpler life on a farm in Connecticut. Must be an excellent comic actor with a great voice and strong dancing skills.
TIM HANOVER (25 - 40 years old, Lyric Baritone Bb2 - F4)
A charming ladies man; a bit slick and always looking for his big break. Jim's best friend and performing partner (along with Lila). Must be a strong dancer (in the style of Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly). An excellent comic actor/dancer/singer. Must tap extremely well.
LINDA MASON (25 - 40 years old, Mix/Belt G3 - F5)
A school teacher with hidden talents. At first, she is tough and distant, unwilling to fall for Jim's charms, but is ultimately won over by his kindness, humor, and their mutual love of music. A charming and funny girl, must sing and dance extremely well.
LILA DIXON (25 - 40 years old, High Belt E3 - E5)
A sexy showgirl and Jim's mismatched fiance. She isn't the smartest girl in town, but what she lacks in intelligence she makes up for with sheer determination and a love for the spotlight. An excellent comic actor with strong dancing skills. Must be be able to tap.
LOUISE (Actor to play 40+, Belt Gb3 - F5)
The local fix-it woman. Tough, no nonsense, and extremely perceptive. Must be a strong mover and singer.
DANNY (Actor to play 35+)
Jim, Ted, and Lila's agent. He has a big personality, a lot of ambition, and he is very direct.
CHARLIE WINSLOW (12 years old, Eb3 - C4)
Precocious, straight forward and practical, but oddly charming. Not one to mince words. One of Linda's students who works part time as a a messenger for the bank. Strong actor/singer. Non-dancing role.
ENSEMBLE (16 - late 30s, All vocal styles)
Strong tap/broadway jazz style dancers to play chorus boys/girls. Also to double as minor characters throughout. Must be strong dancers and singers. Some ensemble members may understudy principal roles.
